Abstract

|
The phagocytic activities of Acanthopanax sessiliflorum Seeman were studied. Effects of ethanol extract from Acanthopanacis cortex on the phagocytic activity of the mouse reticuloendothelial system were studied by the carbon clearance method. In normal mice, the clearan-ce-rate of carbon was shortened after the administration of ethanol extract 100㎎/ ㎏ and 200㎎/ ㎏. In carrageenan treated mice, the ethanol extract was found to lessen the clearance-rate of carbon. These results suggested that ethanol extract from Acanthopanacis cortex promotes the phagocytic activity on the reticuloendotherial system and has a stimulatory effect of macrophage in mice.
